Implants
While there are many options to replace broken or missing teeth, dental implants offer the best results because they replicate the crown and root of natural teeth. When you lose a tooth, both the crown and root are lost. Using titanium as a new post, a proven material used in most bone and joint surgeries, we can implant a long-lasting, natural-looking prosthetic crown on the titanium root. The process is recommended for patients with missing teeth because it helps prevent bone loss, allows custom crown installation that perfectly matches natural teeth, and is easy to care for. Patients can chew food and care for implants just like they would their natural teeth.
We have the technology, equipment, and experience to perform the steps to properly prepare for a successful implant, including any tooth extractions or bone grafting required.
Extractions
Tooth extractions are a safe and effective way to remove teeth causing dental problems. We numb the mouth, gums, and associated area around the tooth being extracted using local anesthesia. Patients will feel pressure as we remove the tooth but will not feel pain. Some teeth require sectioning, which involves cutting the tooth and removing it in pieces. This is a common practice for severely decayed teeth. After the extraction, we provide patients with complete instructions explaining how to care for the wound properly as it heals.
Patients who have teeth extracted can begin eating and drinking normally about 24-hours after the procedure. Following our guidance for cleaning the area is essential to the healing process. Most patients feel fine after a few days and can continue with everyday activities. There are many reasons a patient needs an extraction, such as: tooth decay, gum disease, a tooth broken beyond repair, crowding, and preparation for another oral surgery.
Emergency Dentistry
Our office is available for dental emergencies caused by traumatic injuries, accidents, or sudden dental complications. If you experience any of these that cause severe pain or excessive bleeding, contact us right away.
Dental Pathology
Our services offer complete oral care, including oral pathology exams. Patient exams are performed by our experienced and certified surgeons to diagnose and treat diseases of the mouth, such as precancerous and cancerous lesions, cysts, tumors, and more.
If you notice any changes to the skin lining the inside of your mouth, your lips, gums, cheeks, face, or neck, such as a difference in color, texture, or feel, you should schedule an exam right away. These could be signs of disease, the most serious of which is oral cancer. These changes aren't always accompanied by pain, so we recommend performing a self-exam of these areas once a month to look for: reddish or whitish patches in the mouth, sores that don't heal on their own and bleed easily, lumpy or thickening skin inside the mouth, chronic sore throat, or difficulty chewing or swallowing.
